The goal of infection control is to decrease the incidence of nosocomial infection, by regular surveillance and prompt interventions. With the implementatiob of infection control, we hope to improve quality of care and avoid preventable infections. The infection control unit was established in 1984, according to the suggestions and goals proposed by the US CDC. The Infection Control Committee holds a conference every two months. The issues discussed and managed in the conference include infection control policies, rates of nosocomial infections, antimicrobial stewardship, environmential cleaning and equipment disinfection, and so on. Whenever there is special event, such as emerging infectious diseases or cluster of nosocomial infections, a provisional conference will be held to investigate and halt a probable outbreak.
